‘But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No,” lest you fall into judgment.’ James 5:12 NKJV
Many times it is so easy to be swayed. We mean “no” but we say “yes”. We try to please people by giving in to their demands and wishes, sometimes to our own detriment.
The Word of God declares that we should stick to our word: “yes” should be just that and “no” should mean “no”. There should be no vague definitions, no bending the rules. Integrity should be the hallmark of every believer in Christ.
Many make easy promises which they either do not intend honoring or are not able to honor. Rather be true to your word than make a promise that may be difficult to keep. Ethical and moral behavior is the foundation of the Christian faith.
Let us at all times remember that :
‘You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house…’ Matthew 5:13-16 NKJV
Stay blessed in Christ the Savior
